The flights will be from Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen airport (on the Asian side of the city) and Paris' Orly airport. "We have raised the number of our passengers from 4.4 to 5.9 million from 2008 to 2009," Pegasus Airlines Executive Board Chairman Ali Sabanci said. Sabanci said the company grew its international lines by 67 percent. "We will own the youngest Boeing 737-800 fleet in Turkey, with eight more aircraft we will purchase in 2010," he also said. Pegasus Airlines was established in 1990 as a joint venture between Aer Lingus, Silkar Yatirim and Net Holding. Since its first commercial flight in May 1990, the airline has grown from a fleet of two aircraft to a fleet of 15, which includes the very latest new generation Boeing 737/800s. With a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-800s, 2 Boeing 737-400s, and 3 Boeing 737-500s, the airline operates charter flights from Turkey to 99 destinations in 17 countries.
